You may have heard controversy about stem cells used in the medical field over the last decade. However, most of the controversy was over embryonic stem cells being used to treat multiple medical conditions. Did you know that your own body has stem cells? There has been some great advancements in the medical field that has allowed physicians, to treat common conditions with patient’s very own stem cells. The process is minimally invasive and could save you from surgery or at least delay it for some time and also bring you pain relief. If you have arthritis, partial tendon or ligament tears, a meniscus tear or plantar fasciitis; adult stem cell treatment may be an option for you.
There is also another treatment that you may have heard of called Platelet Rich Plasma (also known as PRP). Dentistry and cosmetic surgery have been using this treatment since the early 90’s but, the orthopedic world is just getting its feet wet! Mainly PRP was only used in Orthopedic Sports Medicine for major league athletes, but since its infancy; the research and application for use has also grown. Common conditions treated with PRP include: sprains and strains, plantar fasciitis, arthritis and tendonitis. Looking for an alternative source for pain relief without having to “pop a bunch of pills”? Our office in Minocqua is offering both Adult Stem Cell and PRP treatments! These treatments have little risk for infection and also very little risk for side effects considering that the platelets and stem cells are derived from your own body!
